AC Milan 3 – 3 Liverpool

As much as it pains me to say it, this is one of the greatest football matches ever played. In a comeback sense, certainly. At half time, the Reds were dead and buried. We’re talking about one of the greatest teams in Europe at the time. The AC Milan starting XI contained Andrea Pirlo, Rino Gattuso, Kaká, Cafu and Andriy Shevchenko. Liverpool fielded Steve Finnan and Djimi Traoré. I’m not sure what Carlo Ancelotti said at half time, but it must’ve been something along the lines of ‘do what you like, I con’t care’. And thus it was. Jerzy Dudek doing the Bruce Grobbelaar legs to penalty shootout victory.
