There are comebacks and then there are comebacks. This is a comeback the size of a continent, in massive neon letters. You lose the first leg at home 0-1 and you’re two down at half time on the second. It’s pretty much all over. Is it, though? A second half hat trick – the final goal of which was scored with the last kick of the game – would suggest it’s not. Sadly, this type of drama is now due to be binned thanks to the abandonment of the away goals rule. I didn’t think that needed fixing but then what do I know?
