The team I support is unfathomably terrible at football, but even I would put money on them successfully negotiating a game they’re winning 5-3 in the 90th minute. The Champions League is no stranger to last minute insanity; Man Utd in 1999, Spurs in 2019 – what makes this stand out is that this one was well and truly over. When Riyad Mahrez battered the ball into Thibaut Courtois’ net nearing the end of the game, there was absolutely no hope. But then if you sub off all your best players because you think it’s already in the bag, you deserve all you get. Has Pep Guardiola never watched a football match?!
