Uruguay 2 – 1 Brazil

The 1950 World Cup was weird. Just putting that out there. Let’s make it a league until the end, yeah? Why? Well…why not?! Because it’s a stupid idea?? Either way, neither Spain nor Sweden (playing at the same time, for some reason) could have won, so this effectively became the ‘World Cup Final’. And playing at home and only needing a draw – having absolutely battered any team in front of them up until this point – it’s Brazil’s to lose. And unbelievably, they absolutely managed to do that. Oh man. At least it wasn’t the most highly spectated football match of all time. Phew. Wait, it was, and still is?! Oh, well at least we didn’t pre-emptively make up a load of gold winners medals, at least we didn’t, etc., etc.
