Italy 0 – 1 Republic of Ireland

If you forget about the actual football for a second, what’s the first thing that enters your mind when Ireland at USA 94 is mentioned? That’s right. It’s Jack Charlton and John Aldridge going absolutely mental at a linesman during an attempted subsitution. That wasn’t this game, but as an English person, highlights of the tournament are few and far between. Anyway, back to this – Ireland were actually the only team to beat Italy over the competition (the final was 0-0, after all). For me, that warrants at least a runners up spot.
