If you’re anything like me, even a vague memory of the 1994 World Cup will make you think of Gheorghe Hagi. What I like about the success of the Eastern Europeans (remember that Bulgaria came to the party in a big way also) is the fact that a lot of the local Americans would’ve had no idea where any of these countries were, geographically. When the tournament was over, West Ham had a good go at buying the Romanian squad. Good old Harry.
