England 6 – 2 Iran

Ordinarily, it doesn’t start like this for England. They tend to muddle about, draw or take a narrow win at the start of a tournament. Not shatter the opponent to pieces. Not to help matters, there was the furore about wearing an armband, which could’ve put them (and Wales later on in the day) off massively. Personally I think they should’ve just worn it and taken the hit. But money always trounces human rights, doesn’t it? Let’s not get into that or we’ll be here all day. England probably should’ve had seven, due to VAR insanity and both teams hit the woodwork. The whole thing a spectacle and no mistake.
