USSR 0 – 2 Netherlands

The Euros have frequently featured that strange quirk where teams that play each other in the group stage and then end up doing so again later on (Germany and Czech Republic in 1996, Portugal and Greece in 2004). What’s peculiar about this one is that the Soviet Union beat the Dutch in the first match, meaning that they were the only team to do so for the entire tournament (in 2004 they’d also be the only team to beat the Greeks). Not sure what happened with the first one, but the boys in red never stood a chance in the final, even if you don’t consider that goal.
